MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 05-09-19
An entry of 1920 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 4th September sold in a steady trade.
The 1450 lambs sold at similar rates with good quality heavy lambs from 310p to 317p per kilo paid for 24.3kilos @ £77 each. Generally heavy lambs sold from £74 to £78 each.
Good quality middleweight lambs sold from 325p to 343p per kilo with a top of 367p per kilo for 21.4kilos @ £78.50 each followed by 343p for 23kilos @ £79 each.
Store lamb trade was steady with light stores to 382p per kilo for 10.2kilos @ £39 each followed by 378p for 16.4kilos @ £62 each.
The 250 cull ewes sold readily. First quality ewes sold from £70 to £108 each. Second quality from £40 to £60 each.
In the Breeding ring Rams sold to £300 for a Char ram lamb followed by £270 for a Texel Shearling. Breeding hoggets sold to £170 each with several pens from £130 to £165 each. Others sold from £100 to £125 each.
