MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 13-02-20
An entry of 1300 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 12th February returned a noticeably stronger trade for fat hoggets with cull ewes and Breeding sheep selling in a steady demand.
An entry of 900 fat hoggets sold in a noticeably firmer trade with overweight hoggets selling to a top of £112.50 each with several pens from £107 to £111.50 each. The entire entry of 600 heavy hoggets averaged 26kilos @ £105.20 each. All top quality pens sold from 400p to 433p per kilo for 24.5kilos @ £106.50 each. Horned hoggets sold to 426p per kilo for 36 hoggets weighing 24.2kilos @ £103 each.
Middleweight hoggets sold from 400p to 451p per kilo for 20.2kilos @ £91 each followed by 441p per kilo for 22kilos @ £97 each. Middleweight horned hoggets sold to 436p per kilo for 22.5kilos @ £98 each.
Store hoggets sold to 460p per kilo for 18.9kilos @ £87 each.
The 210 cull ewes sold to a top of £129 each. Main demand from £90 to £124 each.
In the Breeding ring Doubles sold to a top of £285 each with others at £275, £270 & £265 each. Singles sold to £225 each with other at £220, £215 & £202 each.
