MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 20-02-20
An entry of 1900 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 19th February sold in a further improved trade for hoggets and cull ewes. Breeding sheep maintained their recent strong prices.
The 1400 hoggets sold in a noticeably stronger trade again this week with good quality heavy hoggets selling from 420p to 450p per kilo for 24kilos @ £108 each followed by 442p per kilo for 24.2kilos @ £107 each. Overweight hoggets sold from £108 to £114 each with the entire entry of 700 heavy hoggets averaging 26kilos @ £107.80 each.
Good quality middleweight hoggets sold to 471p per kilo for 21kilos @ £99 each for a Loughgall farmer followed by 469p per kilo for 20kilos @ £93.80 each. All good quality middleweights sold steadily from 420p to 465p per kilo.
The 200 cull ewes sold to a top of £141 each with all good quality ewes from £100 to £133 each. Plainer ewes sold from £70 to £90 each.
A full yard of breeding sheep sold in a very firm trade with good quality doubles selling @ £275, £250 & £230 each. Singles sold up to £235 with several more outfits from £170 to £218 each.
