MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 19-03-20
A large entry of 1820 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 18th March returned a firmer trade on the week for fat hoggets. Cull ewes sold in easily the best ever trade, selling up to £209 each for pen of 14 ewes from a Rathfriland farmer followed by £204 each for a Warrenpoint producer. All well fleshed ewes sold from £140 to £195 each. Plainer types sold from £90 to £130 each.
Middleweight hoggets sold steadily from 430p to 479p per kilo for 23.8kilos @ £114 each from a Dungannon producer followed by 461p per kilo for 23kilos @ £106 each for a Newtownhamilton producer
Heavy hoggets sold to a top of £131 each with several pens from £115 to £122 each. All good quality pens sold from 410p to 452p per kilo for 25kilos @ £113 each.
In the breeding ring the largest entry of Ewes & Lambs so far this season sold in a firm demand with doubles selling to £240 each with several more at £200 to £235 each. Singles to £218 each. Main trade from £140 to £190 each.
