MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 04-06-20
A slightly smaller show of sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 3rd June returned an easier trade for lambs though cull ewes prices remained steady.
Light lambs sold to a top of 470p per kilo for 23 lambs weighing 21.4kgs @ £100.50 each from a Loughgall producer followed by 468p per kilo for 19kgs @ £89 each from a Poyntzpass farmer and up to 466p per kilo for 22kgs @ £102.50 each from a Poyntzpass producer. Main demand for good quality light lambs sold from 445p to 465p per kilo.
Heavy lambs sold from £100 to £105 each and from 400p to 435p per kilo paid for 24kgs @ £104.50 each for a Tynan farmer.
A large entry of 280 cull ewes returned a firm trade to a top of £118 each with others at £117, £110 & £105 each. Main demand for fleshed ewes from £80 to £95 each. Plainer ewes sold from £50 to £70 each.
Ewes & Lambs sold to a top of £192 each for a Ewe with 2 lambs. Others sold at £180 & £175 each. Singles sold from £130 to £165 each.
